WATER SPORTS
Mar Menor Sea is one of the best places in the work where you can practice sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, swimming, water skiing, or any other kind of water sport. Thanks to the calm clean waters, its little swell, and shallowness, all of these sports can be practiced without any risk.

The prestigious Paddle and Tennis Club, with excellent sport facilities and installations, has 7 paddle courts and 5 tennis courts. It offers classes either for beginners, professionals or any other level.

The multiple underwater archaeological sites, boats, and marine reserves in the whole zone enable divers to discover on of the Spanish richest diving places. Beaches

Considered as one of the most important beaches of Murcia, Mar de Cristal´s beach has 1100 metres of thin golden sand. It includes many services, such as first aid posts, security and cleaning services… all of them ensuring people have an unforgettable day. Moreover, it has a delightful beach promenade, where people can enjoy a relaxing walk.

The calm warm Mar Menor Sea and the exceptional climate in itself – 31º in the sunny days and 18º in annual temperature – enable you to enjoy its crystalline waters the whole year, as well as practice nautical activities.

The Calblanque Regional Park, which can be found nearby, is described as a place of outstanding beauty, with long white sand beaches.

The Mar Menor Sea; Europe´s biggest natural spa, a warm saltwater lagoon. Due to being mineral salts rich, you can take advantage of the effects of its therapeutical muds.

Gastronomy

Enjoy the great variety of food, from fish to delicious rices and vegetables, typical from Murcia´s land and sea, and produced according to the traditional Mediterranean cuisine.

We can find many typical dishes prepared with the popular Mar Menor Sea´s fresh fish, such as prawns, salted fish, tuna, mullet fish, and gilthead bream, either salty or baked. All of them accompanied with raw or fresh beans, and with fried almonds.

One of the Mar Menor Sea´s most famous dishes is the Caldero rice, which is prepared with fish, and usually served with “ali-oli”, a garlic sauce.

Murcia´s land and fields provide rich and fresh vegetables, with which the typical salad “mojete” can elaborated. It is made of tomatoe, oninon, baked egg and olives. The lettuce, fried peppers, peas and ham… are also widely known dishes.

There is also a wide range of desserts and sweet dishes, such us “sopa real”, prepared with almonds and eggs, “tocino de cielo”, which is sweet made with egg and yolk and sugar, or the famous “arrope”, produced with fruit and honey. The typical coffee “Asiatico”, which is made with condensed milk, liquor and cinnamon, perfect for the end of every meal.

An example of the buoyant and multiple dishes that can be enjoyed in every restaurant of the Mar Menor Sea.

How to arrive

Mar de Cristal is perfectly well communicated with the rest of Spain and Europe, thanks to the wide transport system.

Land travelling:
Taking the Spanish motorway A-30 and the toll motorway AP-7, which connects with the MU-312, you can reach Mar de Cristal taking the 14 exit. There are also many busses and trains available, which leave you at Cartagena Station, only 15 minutes away.

Air travelling:
There are many airports nearby, either in San Javier (Murcia), Alicante, or Almería.

The construction of new means of transport are planned for the next few years, such as the new Murcia Airport, or the AVE (Spain´s high speed train), which will make a 2 hour and a half journey from Madrid possible.
